Just recently an all new singing competition show has aired on NBC called, The Voice, and I love it! It is a hit and it has officially been picked up for a second season! On the show there are for coaches/judges who most of you know, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine. Each judge picks a few people for their team to compete. Then soon the teams are narrowed down to 1 person and each person on each team competes against each other. The judges/coaches mentor them. Sounds different, right?
Then there is the show, American Idol, which I know all of you know. It's been with us since 2001! But since then it has gone a little bit down hill. First there is the judge change. It kept happening so often. Although we love J-Lo and Steven, we really miss Simon and Paula. Kara really wasn't so bad either. Next, their is the continuation. It's the same every season. Same style, same everything. Let's face it, most of the guy singers don't really sound at all different (except Scotty McCreery). But overall it still is a pretty good show.
Do you think The Voice will beat out American Idol? It is a different show that we all enjoy. But American Idol is a show we still love and wouldn't want to see go. The two shows are very different but is the music industry big enough to let in two new singers at the same time? The Voice season 2 will start in Winter 2011 and go into 2012. January 2012 is right around when American Idol starts. Big competition. And don't forget Simon Cowell's new show, The X-Factor, which is premiering on Fox. Hopefully, that won't beat out The Voice. Looks like there is a lot of singing competitions going on. And really, I think people only want to choose one to watch. I know I wouldn't want to watch almost the same thing all the time. If you ask me, I think The Voice and The X-Factor are going to dominate American Idol. What do you think? Definitely 'American Idol'! It's not that I didn't like 'The Voice', it's just that Dia should have won and all of the rules felt like they were being made up an hour before the episode aired. Also, I tend to hate anything that has to do with Cee Lo Green.
