Catch Up Time: Are You Ready to 'Let it Shine'?!

Hey everyone! It's Matt back! I've been so busy that I really haven't posted and I'm really sorry! Tommy is the only one who is really keeping this site up on it's feet so let's give him a round of applause! Thanks Tommy! But he's just been posting for his audience. I've just left my audience hanging. So now I'm giving you guys something to be excited about! Remember that movie  told you about last summer that was in production, :Let it Shine? Well it's coming out pretty soon and that's this summer! The film stars Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris), Coco Jones (Radio Disney's Next Big Thing, Season 3), and Trevor Jackson! The movie looks amazing and I'm so excited for it! Check out the trailer below!

And guys, that' not it! Let it Shine is full of music and so much more! Check out the plot below:

The inspiring story unfolds in Atlanta, Georgia, as Cyrus DeBarge and his best friend Kris McDuffy reunite with their childhood friend, teenage singing sensation Roxanne "Roxie" Andrews, whose music label is sponsoring a songwriting contest at a teen club. Cyrus, who writes music under the name "Truth," crafts a heartfelt and contest-winning rhyme about Roxie but to his dismay, his work is mistakenly attributed to Kris. Lacking the confidence to step forward, Cyrus stands by while Kris not only takes credit for the lyrics but ultimately begins to win Roxanne's heart too. Now, it's up to the true poet to overcome self-doubt, seize the opportunity to reveal his authentic self and pursue his dreams. All the while, Cyrus must convince his preacher father that hip-hop music can have a positive message.

Sounds good, right? I love how diverse the film is. Not only that, but the music that we've heard so far is really good. Listen to one of the first songs release below, "Don't Run Away". This song is the song that Cyrus enters into the songwriting contest. Really listen to the message that Cyrus is telling to Roxie.

And then here's the music video for it:

So I like that song and I think it's really catchy, too.
Now this next song I just absolutely love! "What I Said" is a song by the very talented, Coco Jones, who stars as Roxie. This song is very upbeat and just makes you want to dance. I really love it. It's a different style for Disney which I think will attract different audiences. First check out the music video below because it will get you very hype!

 And now the full song!

Now in the full song they cut some parts out but we hear those parts in the music video and vice versa! Love this song already?! Yeah, it has that effect on people.

Now here's a feature for the music:

Let it Shine premieres June 15 at 8/7c so don't miss it! It has it all: gospel, rap, hip-hop, and pop all together! It is going too be amazing! Thanks for reading!
~Matt
